Kazakhstan Baltic Energy Corporation Refinery prioritizes employee and contractor health and safety, and we foster a proactive health and safety culture inside the organization. QHSE training and practices are rigorous and held to a high international standard. There are activities at the Kazakhstan Baltic Energy Corporation Refinery that could result in a lot of injuries. In Turkmenistan, there were two (2) lost time events involving Kazakhstan Baltic Energy Corporation Refinery employees and one of the contractors in 2022. In accordance with our HSE protocols, all incidences were investigated, their causes recognized, and remedial action plans developed.
In 2022, the Contractor HSE Performance Process was distributed to all Contract Owners and C&P, and every day when they log in, a pop-up window with a safety notification from the QHSE department displays on their screens, and HSE Posters were printed and put in all visible locations. Monthly QHSE Reports are prepared and given to all company employees in order to communicate HSE Performance.

Process safety is more than words we write in a procedure or boxes to check on a work permit. Thoughtful risk management actions are integral to the way we design, operate and maintain our facilities. We verify and rigorously manage these safeguards through maintenance, inspection, operations testing, competency demonstrations and emergency preparedness drills. The primary purpose is to keep hydrocarbons, chemicals and process water controlled and safely managed at all times through all phases of our operations.
Our enhanced process safety guidelines and expectations are focused on leadership, scenario management, human performance principles, critical task execution and learning from experience, all designed to help achieve a step change in process safety performance.
